Seminars

Get up to £1000 for training to improve your presentation skills.

Hillier Hopkins LLP has teamed up with experienced business training consultants Eureka Learning Services Ltd to bring you a powerful and practical course to improve your presentation skills. If you have between 5 and 249 employees, it may not cost you a thing. You may be eligible for grant funding under the Government’s Train to Gain Leadership & Management Programme. (see About Train to Gain below for more details)

Presentation Skills for Leaders & Managers will focus on professional business communication. It will cover the following elements:
  1. Preparation
  2. Structure
  3. Delivery
  4. Strategy
  5. Effective use of visual aids
  6. Managing question and answer sessions

All delegates actively participate and during the day will make a number of presentations which are digitally recorded. Whilst presenting, each presenter will benefit from live feedback from a coach to guarantee progress, maximise the learning opportunity and eliminate distracting behaviours.

At the end of the workshop each delegate will:

  • Have increased confidence when presenting
  • Have improved presentation skills
  • Be able to enhance presentation material
  • Be able to deliver with poise and impact
  • Organise ideas in a persuasive informative manner
  • Be able to control voice, gestures and facial expressions
  • Grab and keep the audience's attention
  • Create interesting and easy to follow visual aids
  • Motivate an audience to take action

Feedback from previous workshops:

"What I am delighted with is to discover that you have given me (and I hope many others) skills, knowledge and a framework to work with that I can transfer to all areas of my work and indeed throughout my organisation"

"The class size and your approach to teaching the material were an excellent combination. I have employed the method and techniques that you taught and have noticed a considerable improvement with my approach in sales situations"

Hillier Hopkins LLP Tax Forum

When asked why he robbed banks, Willie Sutton simply replied, "Because that's where the money is." Will HMRC follow the same strategy?

We are entering a sustained period of high taxation and austerity and in response Hillier Hopkins LLP is launching a new free service called 'The Tax Forum'. Once a quarter you can meet with our tax experts to discuss emerging tax legislation, future tax planning and HMRC tactics.

The sessions are completely free of charge and refreshments will be provided. All that we ask in return is that you bring a client or business contact with you. The group is restricted to a maximum of 12 people so that we can properly address the issues raised. It is therefore strictly on a ‘first come first served’ basis, so if you are interested in joining, please reply as soon as possible.

The first forum meetings will be held on:

High Earners Pension and Remuneration Strategies

For many high earners, tax relief on pension contributions will be restricted to the basic rate of tax from 2011. Until then, the relief is subject to complicated "anti-forestalling" legislation which may incur charges of up to 30%.

On 6 April the new 50% rate of income tax came into effect for individuals with income of over £150,000. At just above £100,000, removal of the personal allowance creates an effective marginal rate of 60%.

How will these changes affect you and your senior staff and what scope will there be to mitigate it?

This seminar will cover:

  • Changes for high earners and their employers
  • Options available to executives going forward
  • Employer-Financed Retirement Benefits Schemes (EFRBS)
  • The new 50% and 60% tax rates
  • Income tax planning in the new regime
  • Revisiting remuneration strategies
  • Implications for high earners arising from the Emergency Budget

The presenters are:
Bhargaw Buddhdev, Partner at Barnett Waddingham LLP
Ian Abrey, Partner at Hillier Hopkins LLP

The Seminar will be held on Tuesday 6 July 2010 at:
Barnett Waddingham
Cheapside House, 138 Cheapside, London, EC2V 6BW.

Seminar times are:
8.00am: Registration and Buffet breakfast
8.30am: Seminar
9.45am: Questions & Close
